Jan van der Grift

 

Jan van der Grift is an urban planner and landscape architect who lives and works in the centre of Amsterdam, Netherlands. He founded his own office Bureau Plano in 2002. Between 2009 and 2016 he worked as a consultant for the Room for the River programme as senior advisor for spatial quality. The main assignment contained of being secretary to the external Quality team and checking and encouraging the spatial quality of the 34 projects involved.

Currently he is making a switch to stakeholder management and is going to work for the extension of the A15, the highway between Rotterdam Harbour and Germany. Jan also works on a regular basis for the Netherlands Commission for Environmental Assessment and helps provide mandatory and advisory reports for government (national, provincial and local) on the scope and on the quality of environmental assessments.

Last but not least he is an international cycling advisor and goes around the world to persuade (people in) cities to become more cycling friendly and go cycling.
